I have now completed the YouTube videos and have put them onto my design page. YAY!
I have now completed my good copy for my dream classroom sketch. It was quite hard for me to draw an isometric drawing. I struggled drawing things to scale. I had tried different ways of drawing the classroom but ended up choosing to draw two separate isometric drawings. One showing the back and left side of the room, and the second drawing showing the front and right side of the room.
I have also been researching ways I can present my classroom design. I wanted to do something that would allow me to ellaborate on my design decisions. So, I have decided to show case my design in an audio/visual lecture presentation. I have downloaded an app called 'Lecture' which allows me to show things on the screen, and record my voice over the top. I think this will allow me to explain my design decisions instead of just showing them.
Also I am attempting to transfer my hand drawn sketches into 3D drawings using a program called SketchUp. I have never used SketchUp before so am watching the tutorials to help me through it. This is definitely proving to be very challenging! Fingers crossed!
For the past few days I have been sketching my dream classroom. I have also been searching for some free or low cost apps on my iPad where I can turn my sketches into a 3D object. The problem is I'd like to include real life objects such as furniture and displays. A lot of apps only allow you to include standard furniture, which are not relevant in a classroom. I have been playing around with HomeDesign HD. This app allows you to create a room in 2D and view it in 3D. I was able to make a rectangular room, paint the walls white and put wooden floorboards down. I put large door in the corner and a large table in the centre of the room. It is a good app but it limits my creativity, more research must go into finding a way for me to display my dream classroom in a more professional way.

This quote has really stuck in my mind. I guess because it is so blatantly true. This is something that I would like to address in my dream classroom. How can I promote creativity in my classroom, not just through teaching but through the environment? How can I create spaces which allow students to explore and learn according to their learning style?
So far I have established that I will need to include a number of spaces;
1. Space for students to work individually;
using laptops and iPads students can move around the classroom and work
where they feel comfortable.
Students are not assigned a seat or a seating plan, they can work on the floor, at a desk, in a nook, wherever they feel.
2. Space for students to work in small groups;
Creating little built in nooks for students to work with peers, circular tables ensure every person is included in the group.
Semi-circle nooks with tables and bench style seating and stools.
Reading nook with ottomans, floor pillows and bench seating.
Circular window seating nooks for partner work.
Plenty of floor space and bench space for students to work with
3. Space for students to work as a whole class;
A large table which can seat all students will be placed in the middle of the classroom. Here all students can work together on tasks along side the teacher. Moveable stools will surround the table.
Floor area in front of the projector screen will be available for students to move their stools or sit on the floor to view the screen.

Fautley and Savage (2007) discuss what creativity is in relation to education and outline the steps taken during the creative process. I will see myself through these steps in developing my dream classroom, and enhancing my creativity. The first step in the creative process is preparation (Fautley and Savage, 2007). At this stage I must consider an issue, a conundrum which I wish to solve. My issue can be seen in many teachers’ classrooms. Due to poor funding and low budgets a teacher’s ability to create a learning environment that successfully caters for all learners is difficult. My issue can be summarized into a question, one that I will try to solve.

This is where my project begins…. I can now enter the Incubation phase of the creative process according to Fautley and Savage (2007). During this stage I will take time to consider the issue and think about how I might solve it. Using my imagination, I wish to create a dream classroom. A classroom that truly caters for all learners, one that can be transferred from junior school to upper school, one that students love to be in and teachers love to teach in. If funding and money was not an issue, what would teachers dream to
have in their classrooms? My aim is to create a universal dream classroom… where teachers can adapt ideas and employ them into their learning environments. Using my Pinterest board as a platform of my ideas, I have created some rough sketches to show how my ideas can come together to create a classroom fit for every student and teacher.

In developing my dream classroom there were a number of things I
wanted to include. I used the ‘Pinterest’ app to develop an online pin board of
my ideas. Included on my board was a mixture of furniture pieces such as chairs,
stools, ottomans and couches. I also included ‘spaces’ which I liked such as
breakfast nooks which could be used as small group work areas and large communal
tables used for whole class tasks. I also pinned some digital technology ideas
which I would like to include, such as iPads and laptops for each student and
the Apple-TV connection which can be used instead of an interactive whiteboard.
The Apple-TV allows any Ipad to connect to it, so it is interactive from not
only one person but everybody in the classroom. I really like this idea. I would
love for there to be a way of connecting the iPad/TV to a projector so that you
can pull down the screen when you want it and retract it to allow space in the
classroom as well. This would be magnificent!
I want my classroom to be colourful, to look alive and different. Natural light in my classroom is a must, I love the idea of having circular windows instead of standard square windows.
